Women in Banking Sector

India as a nation has taken significance steps to fill the gender gap existing in the societies. The constitution of India provides equality of employment opportunity ,voting right and equal pay for equal work. Government schemes like "Beti bachao beti padhao" intend to ensure better education facilities.

Banking sector has been at the forefront of women empowerment moment through pioneering efforts like financial inclusion and economic independence of women that has helped them to achieve social economic equality in the Indian society.

Chanda Kochhar was just 22 year old when she joined ICICI bank as a management trainee in 1984 by the time she was 47 , she was CEO. Kochhar not only made history but also she became the first woman to head an Indian bank and transformed the entire Indian retail banking industry

Kochhar says -

"There were so many occasions when I wasn't around for my kids on my husband. But we learnt to work around it".

"The most successful business person is the one who holds onto as it is good and grabs the new just as soon as it is better".
